A good electric kettle will boil your water fast, so you can make a quick cup of instant soup or a pot of tea.

I just bought a new electric kettle and am happy at how much faster it boils water than my previous one. Both were of course wireless: that is, the kettle doesn’t have a wire, but sits on top of a base that connects to the electricity net. This way it’s easy to just take the boiling water wherever I need to take it.

The way to check whether an electric kettle will boil water quickly is pretty simple: check the wattage. The best kettles will have 2300 or 2400 Watts for a kettle that heats a liter. Unfortunately such high quality electric kettles aren’t at present available in the USA as far as I can tell. Do let me know if you know any webshop that does supply them.

A liter is about a quart: quite enough for a whole pot of tea.

Unfortunately not all suppliers of electric kettles mention the wattage on Amazon. I’ve found you the 5 top electric kettles on there that do that have enough to heat your water very fast.

In my experience plastic electric kettles are as good as metal ones, so this is NOT a cheap option. Do make sure you clean it well before using it though by boiling water in it that you won’t use.
