Holiday presents for little yogis!
For children into yoga, having their own gear is paramount. They need their own yoga mat, as well as of course their own yoga clothes. But if they’re really into yoga, they might also like to learn more about yoga, or just have a yoga poster. I’ve collected some gift ideas for little yogis right on this page.
If you’re looking to introduce your kid to yoga, I’ve found several yoga children’s books as well as DVDs.

Kids Yoga Mat
Of course your child needs their own Yoga mat – and it should be big enough for practice, but small enough to handle. Fortunately manufactorers do have a few of these made to fit your child.
Cool bag for your kids yoga mat
Seriously, they’ll look really good at yoga class with this bag for their yoga mat. And if your little yogi is a boy, this is certainly not a girly yoga gift.
Yoga posters and t-shirts
To the left you will find a few cute and sweet yoga posters. I think most are more suitable for girls, but a boy into yoga will probably love the poster with the animals in yoga poses.
Yoga meditation cushion
These come with a zipper, so you can take out as much of the filling as necessary for your child to have the right meditation posture. The best meditation cushions are filled with buckwheat, because it is both sturdy and non-allergenic.
Yoga strap
This is a standard yoga accessory, however I’m a bit worried to recommend this to children. Do you really want them to stretch beyond what they can do for themselves? It’s up to you, but one of the risks of yoga, IMO, is the tendency to overdo it. On the other hand, the strap may help them into poses that they would not otherwise be able to do.
YogaKids DVDs
Having fun with yoga was never so easy. Try these exercises with your children or have them exercise by themselves.
Starting at age 3, these videos are age appropriate and safe as well as educational.

The Yoga Zoo Adventure – Animal Poses and Games for Little Kids
This ingenious book uses the postures and movements of zoo animals to teach yoga movements to children. The first part of the book covers theoretical and practical information for parents and teachers working with yoga. Part two takes readers to every part of the zoo, from the insect and reptile houses to the ape cage and the oceanarium. Here children come face to face with a tiger, look in the eyes of a giraffe, do the monkey dance, and walk as gracefully as a flamingo. Part three introduces the rules of the yoga lifestyle through a number of animal fables. Part four contains background information about the animals described in the book.
